North Branch to Begin Construction of New Portsmouth Liquor Store
(Portsmouth, NH) North Branch Construction of Concord has been awarded the contract to build the new Portsmouth Liquor Store for the New Hampshire Liquor Commission (NHLC). The new store will be located at the Portsmouth Traffic Circle, right next to the current liquor store which will be demolished once the new store is up and running. The new liquor store will be 23,000 square feet, nearly double the size of the existing store it will be replacing. The building design will incorporate the new NHLC branding aesthetic, featuring a post and beam clerestory over the sales floor and accent trusses on the exterior of the building.
North Branch Construction will face some notable challenges on this project. The new store’s location falls in very close proximity to the existing liquor store, with portions of the construction site less than 6’ away from the existing building. The existing store must remain in full operation throughout construction with no impact on customer traffic and parking. This project will require heavy framing throughout winter, a potential challenge depending upon the severity of the weather.
Construction will begin on November 20th and will be complete by the end of next year. Providing design for this project is local architectural firm Oak Point Associates.
