North Branch Construction was chosen general contractor for the expansion/renovation of the occupied grocery supermarket located at the Appletree Mall in Londonderry, NH. Phase I of the project expanded the Shaw’s Supermarket into the former OSCO Drug store, next to Shaw’s. The floor in the OSCO area was removed and dropped one foot to match the existing Shaw’s floor plan. The entire building (including the existing Shaw’s) received a new roof. Phase I was completed in November 2003.
Phase II of the project involved the gut demolition and rebuild of the existing Shaw’s which also included an all new electrical service. The busy supermarket remained in full operation throughout construction, with some of the renovation work being completed during the overnight hours. The renovation phase was a series of smaller phases. As a section of the store was moved into the newly renovated area, demo work began in the vacated area, moving across the existing store. The project was completed in mid March 2004, allowing the owner to reschedule the Grand Re-Opening of the supermarket from April 9th to March 26th, 2 weeks ahead of schedule. Harriman Associates of Auburn, Maine provided the design services for the project.
