Armour Hall, one of the schools most admired buildings, was renovated from the former health facility to contain 29 dormitory rooms and three faculty apartments. North Branch Constructions low bid was significantly over the schools construction budget. After value engineering provided by NBC resulted in cost savings of $170,000, we entered into a stipulated sum construction agreement. The 30,000 sq. ft. dorm renovation/additions project began in September 1995 and was completed in July 1996. The architect for the project was Graham Gund Architects of Cambridge, MA. The project consisted of complete interior demolition and major structural modifications to accommodate a new floor plan, all new windows, mechanicals, electricals and finishes. The building was made handicapped accessible. The renovation uniquely blended the new wood frame construction of faculty with the existing traditional masonry construction of the era.
