  • Historical Renovation
  • 16,150 square feet
  • 10 Month Completion

The Town of Derry chose North Branch Construction as Construction Manager for the $1.5 million renovation of the historical Adams Memorial Building in Derry, NH. The building was originally constructed in 1904, with money left to the town by Benjamin Adams, a distant cousin to John Quincy Adams. Over the years the Adams Memorial Building has served as Library, Town Hall, Opera House, Police Station, District Court, Chamber of Commerce, and surely has been the center of Town social activities. The building, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, survived fires in 1914 and 1927.

Renovations included interior and exterior rehabilitation of the 16,150 square foot, 3 story, brick face facility. Construction began in June with interior demolition including removal of jail cells which remained in the basement level which once served as the police station. The exterior brick has been cleaned and repaired, windows are replaced, the front granite stairs were reset with a new patio/gathering area in front of the building.   The project included a new elevator as well as all new interior finishes on the first floor and basement level.

Dave Udelsman of Udelsman Associates joined the Construction Team as Architect for the project. Construction began in June 2000 and was completed in February 2001.
